Sun City’s SunFest winter escape promises an affordable adventure-packed break for the whole family

Escape the brr of winter at Sun City where temperatures are higher, the sun shines brighter and affordable property-wide deals won’t leave your wallet empty.

The North West Province’s mild, dry winter climate means Sun City can a host a number of exciting outdoor events and activities. The drier season even makes it easier to spot the Big Five and other animals at the next door Pilanesberg National Park.

“Our events team has planned an action-packed SunFest calendar filled with fun activities to keep our guests of all ages entertained. They can expect great value for money deals at our hotels and the restaurant and leisure facilities run by our concessionaires. You are sure to love every moment of this winter at Sun City,” said Sun City General Manager Brett Hoppé.

Winter Events

On June 1, petrol heads will love the “Show off Your Ride” car show, where gears, grease and glory await. Join for a thrilling day of Show and Shine and Car sound competitions, Dyno testing, spinning, and more. Ideal for the whole family, with entertainment for the kids, an exhibition corner, and food stalls. Day visitor tickets are R199 through Ticketpro, while Sun City guests enjoy free access.

On June 14 to 16, SunFest brings music and outdoor vibes as dad is treated to an epic Father’s Day long weekend with live music, delicious dinners and more. There are both day visitor and accommodation packages for the two dining and entertainment Father & Co weekend events at Boma and SunPark, and full access to the resort’s facilities. Saturday sees a potjiekos cook-off competition between guests, with entertainment by Dodo Nyoka and dinner, while Sunday sees volleyball, chipping and soccer games, with lunch and entertainment by Irene Louise van Wyk and Zakes Bantwini . Bantwini recently bagged the best dance award at the Metro FM Awards.

Get involved with the fun at South Africa’s largest inflatable village, on the Cabanas lawns from June 17 to 30. With giant slides, jumping castles, obstacles and competitive games like soccer and volleyball, kids and teens are in for non-stop excitement and action. From June 21 to 23, the Minions take over Sun City ahead of the launch of Despicable Me 4 on the big screen at Sun Movies. Come and meet Gru and Mel and book your picnic spot on the Cabana lawns on June 22, at R150 per person.

 

American singer-songwriter Johnny Gill will bring the heat to the Sun City Superbowl on June 21, with a dress code of red and black. The Grammy Award nominated artist is sure to set the mood with hits such as My, My My, Rub You the Right Way and Fairweather Friend. Tickets available through Webtickets.

While June is a busy month, July is also heating up – watch the space for further updates but for now the main attraction is Treffers happening on July 20 in the Superbowl. Translated as hits, catch the performance featuring the legendary Chris Steyn, Samantha Leonard, Demi Lee Moore and Kurt Darren for R350 per person, or get premium tickets for R700, including a three-course feast.
